DIY – Invitations

Is your dog having a birthday party and you want to send out the cutest invites, ever? Try making them yourself with these easy steps.


  • Coloured paper
  • A picture of a dog printed from the internet
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Grey-led pencil
  • Fabric (optional)

Step 1

Screen Shot 2014-03-06 at 6.58.23 pm^ Go to Google images and type in Cartoon Dog or Cartoon Dog Template, choose a dog face that you like, print it and cut it out.

Step 2

Invite^ Cut out all the features of the dog so they become separate stencils.

Step 3

Invite2^ Decide which colour cardboard you would like to use for your dog’s face.

Step 4

Invite3^ Trace the ears.

Step 5

Invite4^ Cut the ears.

Step 6

Invite5^ Trace the bottom half of the face.

Step 7

Invite6^ Cut the bottom half of the face.

Step 8

Invite7^ Trace the top half of the face.

Step 9

Invite8^ Cut the top half of the face.

Step 10

Invite9^ Glue all the pieces together. I lamented mine for strength. I also created a neck for my dog to tie the birthday party information around and a nose and smiley face.

Step 11

Invite10^ Cut a triangle out of some fabric for your dog’s neckerchief and glue it around your dog’s neck.

Step 12

Invite11^ Create information for your guests, create a tag, print out photos of your dog and hole punch them. String them altogether and tie them around your dog’s neck.

Step 13

Invite12^ And there you have it a pretty cute, easy to do, DIY invitation.
