The Liebster Award

Posted in: Family

I am a lover of blogs, they are my source of entertainment. I have been inspired, educated and encouraged by so many people from the web-world who have shared their lives and bits of information about all sorts of things. I have been nominated for a Liebster Award by Lisa from Puppy Tales and Multiples of Two. The Liebster Award is a fun way to give some shout-outs to blogs you love and discover some new ones along the way. You also get to answer some questions and find out more about each other.

Lisa asked me 10 questions and here are my answers:

1. Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I am definitely a morning person, I feel most awake and productive in the mornings. For some people it takes them hours before they feel awake and ready to face the day, long after they get out of bed. For me, as soon as my alarm goes off, I am wide awake and ready to go. I can get a lot done in the mornings and try my best to get everything on my To Do List done by 1pm because that’s when my energy and motivation levels start to go downhill. During the week I am up at 5.30am and ‘sleep in’ till 6.30 – 7.30am on the weekends. One reason why I am such a morning person is because one of my favourite things in the world happens in the morning, I get my coffee. I’m one of those weirdos who gets excited about going to bed each night because it means that in the morning I get to go to my favourite coffee shop and grab my magic in a cup for the day.

2. What was your favourite childhood memory?

My favourite childhood memory is hanging out with my Oma (grandma) in Germany. My parents were always so protective of me, I was never allowed to watch TV shows that weren’t meant for kids or eat  junk food or do anything fun that involved the possibility of me getting hurt. That’s why time with my Oma was always so magical. She rode a motorbike everywhere and would always throw me on the back and we would go on adventures, she would let me stay up really late and watch movies that were not suitable for children while we ate all the junk food in the world. Even now, when I go back to Germany to visit her, although she no longer has the mobility to ride a motorbike, we still get up to mischief.

3. If you could eat any food, all day/every day, what would it be?

Hot chips! Day or night, summer or winter, for me, hot chips are always an excellent idea.

4. If you could try out any job for a day, what would you like to try?

I would love to be a hip hop artist for a day and make an outrageous video clip.

5. What’s your favourite book?

There is no way I could name just one, there are so many books that have left impressions on me for various reasons.

The Pact by Jodi Picoult kick started my love for reading, I was never a book lover until this book.

A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry which was my first insight into the lives of people in India, the characters in this book took my breath away and broke my heart, it’s an amazing read.

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini is about the real life horror that millions of women in the Middle East experience everyday, oppression from being free.

Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok which is just a beautiful read about a young immigrant in America, a smart girl who lives a double life between school and a sweatshop.

6. What is your go-to accessory?

Is an iPhone an accessory?

7.What was your first pet and his/her name?

A rabbit named Scaredy. I begged and begged my dad to get a rabbit but mum and dad kept saying no because they knew I wouldn’t take responsibility for it by cleaning its cage and feeding it. I kept begging until they gave in. I ended up getting a black dwarf rabbit which I named Scaredy because it was scared of me. It would always run away from me when I tried to pick him up for cuddles. Unfortunately, Scaredy had a pretty horrific death which I saw. He somehow escaped his hatch and our dog at the time grabbed him, played with him and ate him. My mum made me promise not to tell my younger sisters what had happened and just say that he ran away.

8. What’s your favourite meal to cook?

I make a pretty damn good vegetarian lasagne. I would go to say it’s the best lasagne in the world.

9. What is your biggest problem/challenge when it comes to blogging?

Time! To create a successful blog it needs to stay up-to-date which means it constantly needs to be fed with words and this can only be done if you have time. I have so many ideas and things I want to do in this space but just don’t have the time thanks to having a ‘proper’ full time job. I would love this blog to be my full time job.

10. Are you a planner? Or are you spontaneous?

My husband would say I don’t have a spontaneous bone in my body, I like to think I do but in reality, I’m a planner. Not being organised and not having a plan for my day, week or year makes me feel uneasy.

The 10 Bloggers I nominate for a Liebster Award are very successful bloggers and I am sure don’t have time to answer my questions (but go check out their blogs) but if they did they would be:

Drea from ohdeardrea

Taza from Love Taza

Elsie Larson and Emma Chapman from A Beautiful Mess

Joy from Oh Joy!

Lucy from The Design Files

James from Bleubird

Roberta from Naturo Medico

Zoe from Fruity Beauty

Tim from Afield

Theron from This Wild Idea

and the questions would be:

 1. What makes you happy?

2. If you had 3 wishes, what would they be?

3. If you had a dinner party and could invite any 5 people on the planet who are alive today, who would they be and why?

4. When was the last time you laughed so much it hurt?

5. Are you a coffee lover?

6. What are you afraid of?

7. What is your favourite song and why?

8. What do you think is the best invention on planet Earth at the moment?

9. What is the worst thing about technology?

10. What made you start your blog?

I would love anyone to answer these questions, actually. If you have some time to kill, please feel free to answer in the comment section below!
