Is this year zooming past or what? As a teacher, I view my life in school terms and holidays.
On Friday, I got through Term 3 and at 2.30pm the holidays started. After school, I collected Toby and Andrew from our apartment and we made yet another road trip to Adelaide. Andrew has had a week off uni and has been spending it in Melbourne with Toby and I, it’s been wonderful.
We left for Adelaide at 3.15pm and arrived at midnight. I don’t recommend driving in the dark, it was scary being the only ones on the road without proper street lighting, the roads were dark and spooky. We had to leave on Friday afternoon as Andrew had to work at 8am on Saturday. Road tripping during the day is a much better, not to mention safer, option. As always, Toby was a champion in the car and didn’t mind that we only stopped once for a toilet break for 5 minutes. Toby was treated to his own 6 pack of chicken nuggets from McDonalds for dinner and he slept restlessly for most of the way.
It’s good to be back in this part of the world, the weather is gorgeous and the beauty of the beach gets me every time. It is Toby’s favourite place and we have spent the weekend settling back into a slower pace of life, starting with walks to the beach, drinking coffee, stocking the fridge and pantry for some yummy holiday meals and ending the days back at the beach watching the sun set.
The weather man says that it is going to be in the high 20s for the rest of the week and Toby and I are looking forward to getting great doses of Vitamin D and eating ice cream on the beach for the next 2 weeks.
This will be our last two week holiday in Adelaide before Toby and I make the permanent move here at the end of December. I have mixed feelings about it, as much as I love it here, my heart will always belong in Melbourne, I love that place.
p.s Thanks to all the people who took the time to do the survey, I’ll share results soon. If you haven’t done the survey and would like to you can still do it, here.
