Toby’s Health Scare

Posted in: Dog
IMG_5211

Last year, my sister came over to visit us from Melbourne. While she was giving Toby ear rubs, belly rubs and cuddles she said, ‘Did you know there’s a lump here on the back of Toby’s leg?’ I hadn’t noticed it at all and made a note to book an appointment with the vet in the next few days. The next few days passed, weeks passed, months passed. Almost a year later I was giving Toby a bath when I spotted the lump. I felt sick because I realised I had forgotten to make that vet appointment and it had […]

Having a bath with Dr Zoo

Posted in: Dog
Dr Zoo (1)

This year Toby has decided to invest more time into his health. He’s decided to cut down on the amount of cheese he consumes, push himself on his walks and take better care of his skin. In terms of Toby taking better care of his skin, he has enlisted the help of Dr. Zoo to keep his skin healthy. Dr. Zoo’s new Natural Soothing Shampoo and Natural Nourishing Conditioner only contain natural and lickable ingredients that are safe and healthy for pets. I’ll let Toby talk you through his new skin care regime, take it away buddy: ^ Before I have a bath […]

People’s Choice Winner

I have banged on about how this Blog came into fruition many-a-times so I won’t say it again (you can read about it here, if you’re interested) but it has been incredible to see what it has accomplished over the years. Sometimes I wonder if I should go on, if I should put myself and my family out there. I have wondered if it’s irresponsible to include my children in the Blog. I have reread older posts and cringed. Will I look over current posts in the future and cringe too, wondering why I even wrote those things and be embarrassed that so many […]

Toby, Loving Life Again

Posted in: Dog
19th-september-2016-21

Toby seems to be enjoying life again. There was a bit of a pause in his happiness levels whilst I was in hospital and recovering, as I couldn’t take him on his daily adventures. Toby was a bit confused as to why his daily routine was up in the air. I felt like I’d prepared him for what was coming by slowly cutting down on his walks leading up to Felix’s birth, but few less walks a week was a bit different to not leaving the house at all for 3 weeks. Furballs love routine. From the very beginning we have made sure Toby’s day to […]

If You Could Say One Thing To Your Pooch…

Posted in: Dog
tobytobytoby

On Instagram we asked people to answer the question: If for just a moment your pooch could understand you, what would you tell them. Here are the answers: “I would tell both my fur gals “you bring laughter, joy, happiness, mess, cuddles, walks, dirty big holes, fun, peace, calm, patience into my life every single day and it fills my heart to the brim – thank you” & I think they would look at me and be wondering where their next piece of cheese is” 🐶💗🐶💗 @lillidaisy “I would tell our Miss C what a blessing she has been to our family. […]

Swooping Season

Posted in: Dog
26th August 2016 (12)

Toby’s favourite time of year is here, Swooping Season. And by favourite I mean he really hates it and so do I. For some reason in the Spring time birds love to swoop Toby. I don’t know if this happens to all dogs or just him because he stands out so much with his blonde wooly coat. Whatever the reason, poor Toby can’t leave the front door without being attacked and it drives us bonkers. The last couple of weeks we have been going to a playground close to home because it’s easier to waddle over to than our usual play […]

Losing Toby

Posted in: Dog
8March722

A few weeks ago we all went out into the city to grab a bite to eat and get some coffee. We walked back to the car and I told Toby to get in when Andrew said, ‘Come check this out.’ I told Toby to get back out of the car and we went to see what Andrew was looking at. He talked about how these pavers at the front of someone’s house were the ones he wanted for our house. After chit chatting about it we got back into the car and drove home. At home Andrew hit the books, Thomas […]

Getting Toby Ready for Baby #2

Posted in: Dog
thomastoby2

Toby has experienced a lot of changes in his 4 years of life. Once upon a time it was all about him but with the tornado of changes Thomas brought along last year, Toby has had to adapt to a new life. He has done well, we’re so proud of him. Those of you who’ve been following along, know that Toby did not like Thomas when we brought him home from the hospital. And next month things are going to change once again and we’re getting Toby ready for those changes. A couple of years ago I wrote an article for […]

Toby Wigglebottom Nominated for the Bupa Blog Awards 2016

Posted in: Dog
TobyandHelena

A month or so ago a lovely Toby Wigglebottom fan emailed me to say that she had nominated this Blog for the Bupa Blog Awards 2016. Not knowing anything about it, I emailed back with a ‘Thank you so much!’ and left it at that, I didn’t actually think anything would come of it. Then last week I got an email from the Bupa Team informing me that out of 600 entries we are one of the 5 finalists in the Pet Category for 2016. I had to reread the email a few times to comprehend what was going on […]

Caring For Your Pooch In Winter

Posted in: Dog
DR ZOO 15

We are well and truly into winter in our neck of the woods. Most days we are rugged up to our eyeballs and brave the cold for our walk. Although I love walking when the air is nice and crisp, I don’t love the way Toby looks at the end of it. His paws are always dirty, his face is wet, leaves and twigs get stuck in his fur and he smells. When we get home I give his paws a good rub with a towel and that’s it. I know I should be giving Toby baths more often in winter […]
